FCA RECAP: LAMP wins in comeback fashion; ACA's Moorer pitches gem in win

LAMP 8, Catholic 7
LAMP scored seven times in the bottom of the sixth inning, capped by a go-ahead, three-run, inside-the-park home run by Grayson Hall to rally past Montgomery Catholic in the 29th annual FCA Jason Armstrong Memorial Baseball Classic at Riverwalk Stadium on Saturday.
Catholic starter Hudson Parrish scattered just three hits and surrendered an unearned run in five innings of work.
Catholic took advantage of three costly LAMP (7-1) errors and touched senior starter Will Romanowski (3-0) for eight hits over the first six innings to build a 7-1 advantage. Romanowski allowed seven runs, four earned, while walking two and striking out four in the complete-game effort.
In the sixth, Andrew Lutz led with a walk and moved to second on a single by Oliver Stephens. Josh Donaldson walked and Junseo Park ripped a two-run single. With two outs, Josh Bell delivered an RBI single ahead of Hall’s homer scoring Bell and Stephens.
Lutz led the Tigers at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk and two runs scored. Hall drove in three runs, while Park added two RBIs.
Brody Hudson hadfinished 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Catholic. Alex Fleet also added two hits for the Knights. Miller took the loss, allowing two earned runs in 1/3 of an inning in relief.
LAMP returns to action in its final game of the FCA Tournament on Monday against Brew Tech at Riverwalk Stadium.
Alabama Christian Academy 10, Wilson 1
JT Moorer allowed just one hit in a complete-game performance, striking out seven batters in seven innings while walking just one in the Eagles’ 10-1 win over Wilson in the 29th FCA Jason Armstrong Memorial Baseball Tournament on Saturday.
Thomas Stovall went 2 for 5 and stole a pair of bases, while Preston Hicks went 2 for 5 and drove in a run to lead the ACA offensive attack. Isaac Warrick went 1 for 4 but drove in four runs, while Hunter Barfoot went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Landon Nelson went 1 for 3 and drove in a pair of runs and Kellen Kendrick went 1 for 4 with a double and drove in a run.
ACA continues play in the tournament on Tuesday against Catholic at Paterson Field at 4 p.m.
Montgomery Academy 11, Park Crossing 0 (5)
Luke Nelson and Judson Lindsey combined on a no-hitter as the Eagles rolled to an easy 11-0 win over 6A Park Crossing in the 29th annual FCA Jason Armstrong Memorial Baseball Tournament on Friday.
Nelson picked up the win, walking three and striking out six in four innings of work. Lindsey pitched a perfect fifth inning, striking out one, to close out the Thunderbirds.
Thomas Woodward went 2 for 3 and drove in a pair of runs to lead the offense. Lindsey and Oscar Fiore both went 1 for 3 and Nelson and Joseph Talley each drove in a pair of runs for MA. Tom Main also had an RBI for the Eagles.
Montgomery Academy (2-1) continues play in the tournament on Monday against 5A Greenville at Paterson Field at 4 p.m.
Trinity 11, Chilton County 6
Grayson Ashe picked up the win with three innings on the mound and delivered at the plate with a 4-for-4 performance, driving in five runs with a double and a home run as the Wildcats defeated Chilton County 11-6 in the 29th annual FCA Jason Armstrong Memorial Baseball Tournament at Paterson Field on Friday afternoon.
Simmons Byrd drew a pair of walks and scored four times in the win, while Jordan Jenkins went 1 for 1 with a double.
Trinity (6-0) continues play in the tournament with a Monday game against 5A Pike Road on 4 p.m. at Riverwalk Stadium.
Chilton County 4, Alabama Christian 2
Tigers’ starter Katon Elijah went the distance in a win over ACA in the 29th annual FCA Jason Armstrong Memorial Tournament at Riverwalk Stadium on Friday.
Elijah gave up six hits as the Tigers scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to break a 2-2 tie.
ACA tied the scored at 2-2 on a run-scoring double by Trey Schlemmer in the third inning. Preston Hicks came around to score after his double led off the inning.
