UPDATE: Tallassee forfeits next two games; Hurricane Delta causing changes in prep football schedule

With an impending storm raving in the Gulf of Mexico, several high school games have been moved to Thursday.

Another game has been added to the “cancelled” list. Tallassee has announced that it found a positive COVID-19 case from a player and has cancelled its game this week against Talladega and next week against Holtville, which was Homecoming for the Tigers.

Both games will be forfeited and severely damages any chance of a playoff berth.

In the River Region, Dothan’s trip to Montgomery to face Jeff Davis, originally scheduled for Friday, will now be played on Thursday at Cramton Bowl.

That was made possible after the game between Valley and Park Crossing, originally scheduled for Thursday at Cramton Bowl, was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns at Valley.

Another game has also been cancelled due to COVID-19. Billingsley and Autaugaville will not be played and the win forfeited to the Bears.

Park Crossing will earn a forfeit win for the third time, having already earn a 1-0 victory from Dothan and Russell County earlier this season.

Other games that have been moved include Central-Phenix City at Prattville; Childersburg at Catholic; Greensboro at Montgomery Academy; Dale County at St. James. A complete list of changes can be found below.

Hurricane Delta is currently off the coast of Mexico but is expected to make landfall sometime on early Saturday morning in and around the Louisiana coast and quickly turn northeast towards Mississippi and Alabama.

Other games are expected to be moved either to Thursday or Saturday. Check back with River Region Sports for updates.
