WEDNESDAY PREPS: Brew Tech softball sweeps Doubleheader; Trinity tops MA

SOFTBALL
Trinity 6, Montgomery Academy 1
Trinity completed the regular-season sweep of the Eagles, winning 6-1 to improve to 2-4 in 3A Area 6 play and spoiling Senior Day at Montgomery Academy on Wednesday.
Mary Kathryn Adcock led the Wildcats at the plate with three hits, scoring two runs and driving in another. Kayleigh Creel, Madi Milton, Anna Beth Haynes, Emory Harris and Lilly Yancey each added a hit.
In the circle, Madi Milton pitched seven innings, allowing a run on six hits while striking out 11.
The Lady Wildcats (12-13) will honor seniors Mary Kathryn Adcock and Parker Dansby on Senior Day against Robert E. Lee on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Brew Tech 9, Beauregard 8 (9)
Grace Hunter hit the first pitch in the bottom of the ninth over the left field fence for a walk-off Area 5 win over Beauregard on Wednesday, capping a wild comeback for the Rams.
Brew Tech claimed a share of the regular-season area championship with Tallassee after beating the Tigers on Tuesday and the Hornets on Wednesday, rallying from an 8-4 deficit in the bottom of the seventh.
The Rams got singles from Hailey Mullins and Gabbie York, a two-run single from JaQuayla Jarrett, and RBI double from Khamiyah Brown and finally tied the game on a fielder’s choice by Hunter to send the game into extra innings.
Hunter put the Rams on the board initially with a two-run single after Beauregard took a quick 4-0 lead. The Hornets extended their lead to 7-2 in the fifth before York hit her sixth home run of the season to make it 7-3 and Brown hit her sixth home run of the season an inning later to make it 8-4.
Brew Tech (27-2) will be back in action this weekend in a tournament at Stanhope Elmore with pool games on Friday against Calera at 5:30 p.m. and St. James at 7 p.m.
Prattville 5, Smiths Station 0
SMITHS STATION -- Jessica Cord was dominant on the mound, allowing just two hits while striking out 11 in seven innings to give the Lions a shutout win over Smiths Station on Wednesday.
Cord went 1 for 3 at the plate, including a solo home run, while recording her 100th strikeout of the year in the circle.
Sarah Grace Jones and Jayden Kendrick also had home runs for the Lions. Jones was 1 for 2 and drove in a pair of runs, while Kendrick was 1 for 2 with an RBI. Kaylee Robles went 1 for 3, stole a base and scored a run and Pyper Castro was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Prattville (17-12) will travel to Dothan on Thursday for their final area game.
Brew Tech 4, Tallassee 3 (8)
Peyton Garrett singled on a 2-2 pitch to score Erica Ellis from second base in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Rams an extra-inning area victory over the Tigers on Tuesday.
The Rams battled from behind most of the evening, getting a solo home run from Taniyah Brown in the bottom of the first after the Tigers had taken a quick 2-0 lead. The Rams tied the game in the second inning on an RBI single by Hailey Mullins, only to watch the Tigers score a run to regain the lead.
Garrett’s bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth tied the game at 3-3.
In the circle, Brown allowed just four hits and one earned run in eight innings while striking out 11.
GIRLS SOCCER
St. James 4, Prattville 3
Katie Brightwell had a pair of goals and a pair of assists to lead the Trojans to a 4-3 win over the 7A Lions at Carlisle Field on Wednesday night.
McKenzie Turner had a goal and an assist for St. James. Haley Brightwell added a goal and Mary Grace Hixon had an assist.
The Trojans’ last regular season game will be Friday at Indian Springs.
BASEBALL
Andalusia 11, Montgomery Academy 3
ANDALUSIA -- Montgomery Academy closed out the 2022 baseball season on the road, dropping their final game to Andalusia, 11-3, on Tuesday.
Judson Lindsey went 3 for 4 and scored a run in his final game, while Tom Main went 1 for 1 with a pair of walks, Parker Cook went 1 for 3 and Rick McBride went 1 for 4. Walton Norrell drove in a run for Montgomery Academy (7-15).
Lindsey took the loss on the mound, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out two in five innings. Oscar Fiore allowed four runs on two hits and Beau Smith pitched the sixth inning, allowing a run on two hits.
Andalusia remains home to play Beauregard in the first round of the 5A state playoffs with a doubleheader on Friday. A third game in the best-of-three series, if needed, will be played on Saturday.
