NCAA UPDATE: Tide, Tigers host baseball regionals; Bama softball opens WCWS play Thursday

Alabama baseball will host an NCAA Regional at Sewell-Thomas Stadium beginning Friday. The Crimson Tide will be joined by Boston College, Troy and Nicholls St. at “The Joe” to begin postseason play.
The Crimson Tide was chosen as No. 16 overall seed and will open against Nicholls St. on Friday at 6 p.m. preceded by Troy facing Boston College at 2 p.m. CDT.
Fans interested in attending the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional can purchase all-session tickets for $60. All-session tickets include general admission and Right Field Terrace seating. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday and can be purchased in-person at the Alabama Ticket Office windows located inside Coleman Coliseum or online by clicking here.
Alabama will be making its 26th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament and is a host-seed for the first time since 2006. The Crimson Tide holds a 71-51 (.582) overall record in the NCAA Tournament, including a 57-37 (.606) mark in Regionals. When in Tuscaloosa, the Tide holds a 9-2 (.818) mark in Regional play. Alabama has claimed seven Regional Championships in program history including titles in 1950, 1983, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2006, 2010.
Auburn to host Penn in regional opener
Auburn was tabbed as the 13th seed in the NCAA Division I baseball tournament and will play host to Ivy League champion Penn in Friday’s opener at Plainsman Park. The Tigers will play at 6 p.m.
The first game of the day features Southern Miss and Samford. The game is slated for 1 p.m.
The tournament continues through either Sunday or Monday and is double elimination.
Advanced tickets for the regional are sold out. Limited numbers of tickets may become available for purchase on game day based on the participating teams' needs and stadium capacity. If participating teams return tickets, they would be made available for purchase on-line by mid-morning on game days. There is no guarantee teams will return tickets for sale.
Alabama softball off to OKC for Women’s College World Series
No. 5 seed Alabama opens play at the 2023 Women's College World Series on Thursday against No. 4 Tennessee at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN.
This year marks the Crimson Tide's 14th appearance in Oklahoma City, returning after a one-year absence. Alabama punched its ticket with a Super Regional round win over Northwestern last weekend in Tuscaloosa, rallying after a game one loss to win the series.
This marks Alabama's 14th trip to the Women's College World Series, owning a 22-25 all-time record in Oklahoma City. The Tide has more appearances than any other SEC team, three ahead of second-place Florida (11).
