PREP UPDATE: Prattville, Catholic flag Football earn easy wins; Pike Road volleyball remains unbeaten

PRATTVILLE -- Hartley McCay threw four touchdown passes and ran for another as the Lions overwhelmed Park Crossing 50-6 in a 6A-7A Area 5 game at Stanley-Jensen Stadium on Wednesday.

The game was originally scheduled for Aug. 29, but was postponed until Wednesday. The Lions have just one home game remaining and will celebrate Senior Night against Opelika next Thursday. The remaining nine games on the schedule will be road games to allow stadium renovations.

McCay completed 7 of 12 passes for 105 yards, while rushing for 7 yards and a touchdown. 

Among her seven completions were touchdown passes to Hayley Coleman that covered 42 yards, one to Lanieya Page for 44 yards, one to Mady Cate Lindsey and one to Kaylee Robles. 

Emma Moore ran 46 yards for another touchdown and Cadence Forrester added a rushing touchdown.

Lindsey returned an interception for a touchdown. Coleman and Emma Kate Gunn had interceptions as well. Anna Bone had a pair of sacks to lead the defensive effort. Gabbie Hoyle, Eriana Benson and Calvari Brown had sacks against the Thunderbirds as well. 

Prattville (5-2) improved to 2-0 in 6A-7A Area 5 play. The Lions will travel to Valley for a Thursday game at 5 p.m., then will travel to Catholic next Tuesday to play the Knights and Auburn in a pair of games. 

Catholic 53, Sidney Lanier 0

Jehle Dickson, Ann Cobb and Rylee Wilcoxson all scored multiple touchdowns as the Knights posted their third shutout in a 53-0 win over the Poets on Tuesday at Catholic. 

Frances Rogers, Ann Cobb and Haley Ishman all had interception returns for a touchdown and Jamie McGuire and Anna Russo each had multiple sacks in a dominating defensive performance. 

Catholic (3-0) has now outscored its opponents 112-0 this season. The Knights travel to Class 7A Opelika on Thursday before returning home to face a pair of 7A teams, Auburn and Prattville, on Tuesday at Catholic. 

VOLLEYBALL

Pike Road 3, Park Crossing 0

PIKE ROAD -- The Patriots dominated the Thunderbirds in Tuesday’s area match, winning 25-3, 25-1 and 25-4 to remain unbeaten in area play. 

For the Patriots, Rylie Fureigh had four aces and seven assists, Allie Lovrich had 11 aces and a kill, Marley Gorman had kills, Caroline Davis had seven aces, seven assists and a dig, Taylor Robinson had four kills, Talynn Coleman had three kills, Brely Dees had seven aces and Sydney Carr had three kills.

Pike Road (24-5) improved to 4-0 in 6A Area 4 play.

Prattville Christian 3, Beulah 0

BEULAH -- The Panthers swept Tuesday’s match from Beulah, 25-10, 25-17 and 25-15, to remain unbeaten in area play.

For the Panthers, Emma Cate Carter had 11 kills, seven digs and an ace, Baileigh Seale had 12 assists and four aces and Baylee Rogers had 15 assists and three digs. Natalee Wheeler had nine digs and an ace, Dakotah Zimbelman had four kills, Paysley Bayer had three aces, a kill and a dig, Aiden Williams had six aces, a kill and three digs, Jenna McClendon had a kill, a block and a pair of digs, Leah Cate Wilson had four kills, Kyra Sims had two kills, Maren Diefenderfer had three kills and an ace, Brylee Byrd had four digs and two aces and Peyton Woodfin had two kills.

PCA (16-9) improved to 2-0 in 3A Area 6 play and will play host to Dadeville in a pair of area matches on Thursday in the PCA gym.

Catholic 3, St. James 2

Catholic rebounded from a match-tying fourth set by edging the Trojans 15-13 in the fifth set in the St. James gym on Monday night.

The Trojans won the first set 25-18 before the Knights rallied to win the second and third sets, 25-22 and 25-20. St. James evened the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set before Catholic won the match in the fifth set.

For the Knights, Zaria Rudolph had 13 kills, three aces, 15 digs and four blocks, Mally Barranco had 39 digs, Joi McGuire had 36 digs and nine kills, Kathryn Reardon had four kills and 15 digs, Harper Howell had 13 kills and six blocks, Grace Levanda had 10 kills, three aces and four blocks and Maria Schwarz had 50 assists and two blocks.  

Catholic (19-4) will travel to Alabama Christian on Tuesday before returning home to play host to Montgomery Academy on Thursday.

St. James (17-5) lost back-to-back matches for the first time this season and will travel to Elmore County on Monday before facing LAMP and G.W. Carver in a tri-match at Carver on Tuesday.

Pike Road 3, LAMP 0

The Patriots swept its match with the Golden Tigers on Monday, winning 25-15, 25-11 and 25-11 in the LAMP gym.

For the Patriots, Rylie Fureigh had two kills, 11 assists and eight digs, Allie Lovrich had 12 kills and nine digs, Jada Gresham had four kills and three blocks, Kat Wilson had seven kills, Lola Gorman had an ace, a pair of assists and six digs, Marley Gorman had five kills, two digs, an ace and a block, Brely Dees had five aces, three assists and 11 digs, Taylor Robinson had 10 kills, Caroline Davis had 14 assists, an ace and five digs, Sydney Carr had five kills and Alliyssa Earle had a kill and a dig. 

Pike Road (23-5) will play host to Dothan on Thursday.

LAMP (13-7) will play host to Brewbaker Tech on Thursday and travel to Carver on Tuesday for a tri-match with the Wolverines and St. James.
