PREP UPDATE: Valiant Cross advances in AISA tourney; Stanhope Elmore girls win bowling crown

Valiant Cross Academy 54, Springwood School 53
CECIL -- Deshawn Hall hit a 22-foot jumper as time expired to give the Warriors a one-point victory over Springwood in the AISA Region 1 Tournament at Macon East Academy on Friday.
Hall finished with 22 points, 17 rebounds, four blocked shots and four steals, lifting Valiant Cross to a victory over Springwood to give the Warriors the third seed in the upcoming state tournament.
Jordan Archie added 12 points and Letwan Hall had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors.
Valiant Cross (21-5) will travel to Greenville to play Fort Dale Academy on Tuesday in the AISA quarterfinals, with the winner advancing to the Multiplex to play the Lee-Scott-Monroe winner in the AISA semifinals on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Chilton County 69, Prattville 64
PRATTVILLE -- The Lions led 37-36 at the half, but a 22-11 surge for Chilton County in the third quarter was too much to overcome as Prattville dropped its final regular season game in Powell Gym on Wednesday night.
Isaiah Bradley hit five 3-pointers and finished with 19 points and three assists as the Lions cut into the lead in the fourth quarter but could not pull off the victory. Ty Bryant added 17 points, six rebounds and four assists, followed by Tyler Smith with 11 points. Tanner Ehmen had nine points and nine rebounds. Donavan Brown had a team-high 12 rebounds along with three assists.
Prattville (3-23) will play in the first round of the 7A Area 3 tournament on Saturday.
Stanhope Elmore 80, Prattville 69
MILLBROOK -- Ty Bryant scored 24 points but the Lions dropped their final road game of the regular season, falling 80-69 in the Stanhope Elmore gym on Tuesday.
Xavier Dunn added 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and six steals for the Lions, while Evan Chandler also had 12 points for Prattville (3-22), which returned home to play Chilton County on Wednesday.

LAMP 9, Brewbaker Tech 0
The Golden Tigers swept the singles and doubles matches to improve to 2-0 with a win over the Rams on Thursday. The defending state champions made short work of the Rams, allowing just one point in singles competition and recording three shutouts in doubles.
In singles, Ian Kim defeated Sean Pouncey at No. 1; Ian Shin beat Tucker Black at No. 2; Sun Ho Kim beat Trace Cantrell at No. 3; Minsoo Park defeated Ethan Walton at No. 4; Richard Chen defeated Daniel Coon at No. 5; and Wonjun Lee beat Jason Moore at No. 6.
In doubles, Shin and Sun Ho Kim defeated Pouncey-Walton at No. 1; Ian Kim and Lee beat Black-Cantrell at No. 2; and Park-Chen defeated Coon-Moore at No. 3.

In doubles, Choi and Hannah Baik defeated Smith-Thomas at No. 1; Chen-Kim beat Moore-Johns at No. 2; and Lee-Liu defeated Nguyen-Jones at No. 3.
BOWLING
Stanhope Elmore’s Warner ties record to lead to state title
MOBILE – Stanhope Elmore High School senior Peyton Warner followed games of 154 and 132 pins Thursday with a girls’ state-record tying 289 in the final game to jump into the limelight at the ninth-annual AHSAA State Bowling Championships at the Bowlero Bowling Center.
The score of 289 tied a state record and set the table for a girls’ 6A-7A title won on Friday.
On Thursday, the Mustangs jumped to the No. 1 seed with a team score of 990. Stanhope Elmore finished the traditional bowling with a 2,552 series to earn the No. 1 seed heading into Friday’s Baker format best-of-7 series championship bracket.
