PREP VOLLEYBALL: St. James drops Prattville; Pike Road eases past Carver

The Trojans swept the best-of-five series from the Lions, winning 25-13, 25-8 and 25-14 on Tuesday in the St. James gym. The middle school (2-1) and junior varsity (2-0) teams also won.
Ava Card had a .444 hitting percentage with 14 kills, an ace, a block, three assists and four digs, Kaylin Corly had a .294 hitting percentage with seven kills, four aces and eight digs, Kiya Jupiter had a .467 hitting percentage with 10 kills, three blocks, three aces and a pair of digs and Sana Shuford had a .118 hitting percentage with three kills, an ace, a block and three digs.
In addition, Sydney Johnston had four aces, an assist and eight digs, Tatiana Shuford had a kill, a pair of blocks, 28 assists and seven digs, Molli Pickett had a dig, Jordan Wesley had a block and Brea Ledford had a pair of digs.
“The girls learned a lot from our last tournament and worked hard to put this knowledge into play in this match against Prattville,” St. James coach Karen Lee said.
St. James (4-6) open 6A Area 4 play at home on Thursday with a match against Pike Road at 6:30 p.m. The Trojans then travel to Corner High this weekend for a tournament.

Pike Road 2, Sylacauga 0
The Patriots swept G.W. Carver and Sylacauga on Tuesday in a tri-match, beating the Wolverines 25-8 and 25-12 and the Aggies 25-17 and 25-20.
Allie Lovrich led the Patriots with 15 kills and eight digs. Ryleigh Fureigh added 27 assists and six aces. Defensively, Lola Gorman had 29 digs and a pair of aces.
Pike Road (8-4) opens 6A Area 4 play on the road, traveling to St. James on Thursday.
Catholic 3, Prattville Christian 0
PRATTVILLE -- The Knights swept Prattville Christian 25-10, 25-20 and 25-18 in a volleyball match on Tuesday.
For the Panthers, Baylee Rogers had 20 assists, two digs and a kill, Hannah Jones had 11 kills and 10 digs, Avery Rogers had 17 digs and an ace, Coco Thomas had seven kills, two blocks and a pair of digs, Sally Swindall had four kills and two blocks, Natalee Wheeler had seven digs, Emma Cate Carter had four digs and Brylee Byrd had three digs.
PCA (7-8) will travel to Montgomery to play Jeff Davis on Thursday and to Guntersville this weekend to compete in the Supreme Courts Tournament.
