PRESS PICKS: September leaves us panting for more but look out for October surprise
STAFF REPORT
So long, September. Let’s review.
Never have football fans been handed a month like what was seen over the 30 days (plus a couple in August).
That is, until this one… October is set up to be just as crazy.
But let’s touch on that later. What did last month teach us about the future?
We know a couple of teams – Alabama and Georgia – are great. Arkansas is a lot better than originally thought. Ditto Florida.
Word is still out on the likes of Kentucky, Ole Miss and LSU. And Auburn.
Nationally, no one thought Iowa would touch the Top 10. Michigan is looking like Michigan again.
And what about Clemson? Um… we’ll get back to the Tigers later.
Fact is, we don’t know what to expect in the next 30 days. It might look like it always does with everybody chasing the Crimson Tide with the Bulldogs in-tow. Oregon might just be ready to take the Pac-12 where it hasn’t been in a long time. Oklahoma has a chance if it can figure out what to do about its offense.
October could be scary for some and not just on Halloween.
Graham Dunn is the new leader on the panel after a solid week.
