TUESDAY PREPS: Park Crossing, Andalusia win FCA openers; Pike Road softball spoils LAMP first home opener

Will Baskin, Landon Crawford, Grant Kiser, Aiden Markwell and Landon Sumrall combined to pitch a one-hitter as the Lions blanked the Volunteers 19-0 on Tuesday at Paterson Field.
Baskin pitched a scoreless first inning, striking out two and hitting one with a pitch, Crawford followed with a strikeout and a walk in the second, Kiser pitched a perfect third, Markwell surrendered a hit in the fourth with three strikeouts and Sumrall struck out the side to end the game and earn the win.
Lion hitters picked up 16 hits, led by Sumrall who went 4 for 4 with a double, 5 RBIs, a run scored and a walk. For the area series he went 5 for 7 with 7 RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. Charlie Dudley went 3 for 4 with a double, an RBI, four runs scored and he was hit by a pitch. Overall, Dudley went 6 for 8 in the area series with seven runs scored. Senior Jacob Hilyer singled twice and went 4 for 6 in the series with a pair of RBIs, four runs scored, a walk and was hit by a pitch.
Prattville (6-3) improved to 2-0 in 7A Area 3 play and will face St. James in the 30th annual FCA Jason Armstrong Memorial Baseball Tournament at Riverwalk Stadium on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

PRATTVILLE -- The Prattville Lions opened area play with a 25-0 victory over the Volunteers in a Monday game suspended and completed on Tuesday.
Andrew Hicks received the start and struck out three while hitting one batter in his one scoreless inning. Will Baskin pitched a perfect second inning with one strikeout and Cade Floyd struck out the side in the third.
Tanner Vance set the tone with a leadoff triple and scored on a throwing error. The Lions then picked up seven more runs, benefitting from seven walks, three errors and an RBI sacrifice fly by Jacob Heath before Aiden Markwell singled in Vance to increase the lead to 9-0. Mason Piper singled to bring in two more runs and then Markwell scored on a wild pitch and Piper on a fielder's choice to end the first inning up 13-0.
The Lions picked up another run in the bottom of the second inning as Charlie Dudley singled and scored on an error. In the bottom of the third, Jacob Hilyer walked, Dudley picked up his second hit of the game then JR Landon Sumrall drove them both in on a single up the middle. The game was suspended at that point and resumed at Paterson Field on Tuesday.
The Lions resumed the game with runners on first and second and two outs in the bottom of the third and picked up three more runs on three walks and a wild pitch to go up 19-0.
They added six more in the fourth on three singles and a two-run double by Dylan Lunsford, followed by RBI singles by Heath, Campbell Hallman and Hilyer to extend the lead to 25-0.
Grant Kiser pitched a scoreless fourth with three strikeouts and one hit batter. Braeden Smith finished off the combined no-hitter with a perfect fifth, including two strikeouts. Overall, Lion pitchers had 12 strikeouts in the win and the bats produced 14 hits.
Park Crossing 5, Greenville 3
The Thunderbirds earned a come-from-behind in the opening game of the 30th FCA Jason Armstrong Memorial Baseball Tournament at Riverwalk Stadium on Tuesday.
Christopher Mayo scored the game-go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the fifth inning.
Rashaun Carter was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings. Terry Ware had a double and a run scored. Mayo added an RBI single while Jadarrion Calloway had a RBI single and a walk.
Park Crossing (2-9) will play again in the tournament next Monday against Brewbaker Tech at Riverwalk Stadium. Greenville plays again on Saturday against Robert E. Lee at Riverwalk Stadium.
Andalusia 4, Chilton County 2 (10 innings)
The Bulldogs needed extra innings to earn the win over the Tigers in the second game of the FCA Tourney on Tuesday at Riverwalk Stadium.
Riley Cravey opened the 10th inning with a walk and came around to score on a single b y Conner Brooks.
Cody Walsh added a two-run double and a single for Andalusia. Mason Meeks got an RBI with a walk.
Brooks pitched eight innings before giving way to Mike O’Brien, who picked up the win with a scoreless ninth. Walsh picked up the save in the 10th.
Parker Willis led Chilton County with four hits including two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Colten Brock added a triple.
Cannon Miller pitched eight innings but did not get a decision.
Andalusia returns to action Wednesday against Prattville Christian at Paterson Field.

SOFTBALL
Pike Road 12, LAMP 9
Addison Belyeu went 4 for 4 and doubled in a pair of runs in the seventh inning to rally the Patriots to a 12-9 victory and spoil the home debut for the Golden Tigers.
LAMP has been at its current location for six years but only used the softball field for practice last year while continuing to play its home games at Lagoon Park. Tuesday’s game with the Patriots was the first on-campus softball game in the history of the program and LAMP owned an 8-7 lead in the seventh when Belyeu stepped to the plate and spoiled the historic game for the Golden Tigers.
Ana Clark doubled in a pair of runs in the first inning to put LAMP on top early, but Pike Road scored a run in the fourth to tie the game at 3-3. Joanna Joiner and Emily Daniels had RBI hits as part of a three-run fifth for the Golden Tigers that put LAMP in control until the seventh.
Daniels went 3 for 5 at the plate to lead the Golden Tigers and took the loss in the circle, allowing seven hits and 10 runs while striking out three in six innings of work.
Haley Melton started the game for the Patriots, giving up three hits and a pair of runs while striking out one in 1.1 innings. Kaelin Perdue picked up the win, pitching the final 5.2 innings, surrendering seven runs on seven hits while striking out four.
Pike Road returns home to play host to Smiths Station on Thursday.
St. James 6-14, Catholic 2-7
The Trojans rallied to win a hard-fought game with Catholic in the opening game of a doubleheader, then beat the Knights in a run-rule victory to close out a doubleheader with a sweep at St. James on Tuesday.
Sydney Johnston went 2 for 3 in the first game, scoring two runs and driving in another, and went 3 for 3 in the second game, scoring three times and driving in a run.
Hannah Smith put the Knights up early in the first game with a solo home run as part of a two-run first, but the Trojans rallied with two runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead as Mary Olive Maddox drew a bases-loaded walk and KK Hall followed with an RBI single.
In the second game, St. James scored a run in the first and six more in the second with the help of a three-run homer by Peyton Dees to take control of the game. Dees went 2 for 3, scored a pair of runs and drove in four, adding a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
Tat Shuford went 1 for 2 with a pair of RBIs and Kaitlyn Hudson went 3 for 3 and scored three times.
Smith homered for the Knights in the third inning.
In the circle, Ava Stanford started the first game and pitched 3.2 innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out three. Emily Needham came on to get the save, pitching the final 3.1 innings of one-hit ball while striking out seven.
In the second game, Needham started and struck out six as the Trojans were in control of the game. Emerson Hagen came on in relief and pitched 1.1 innings before she was hit by a ball, causing Needham to return to finish the game.
Kayleigh Everage took the loss for the Knights in the first game, allowing three runs on four hits in 2.2 innings while striking out two. Jennifer Looney took the loss in the second game, giving up 10 runs on 10 hits in four innings of work.
BOYS TENNIS
Montgomery Academy 6, Trinity 3
Two of the state’s best tennis programs took the court against each other at Lagoon Park Tennis Center on Tuesday, with the Class 7A Eagles winning four of the six singles matches to defeat the Class 6A Wildcats 6-3.
In singles, No. 1 Whit Davis defeated Trinity’s Timothy Hornsby 6-0, 6-1; No. 4 Jackson Brown defeated Hudson Cornett 6-1, 6-0; No. 5 Ford Morano rallied to beat Trevor Wilson 2-6, 7-6 (7-3), 11-9; and No. 6 Anton Yang defeated Grant Speagle 6-1, 6-1.
Trinity’s wins in singles came at No. 2 where Samuel Treadwell defeated Charlie Hill 1-6, 6-1, 10-6 and at No. 3 where James Treadwell defeated John Alford 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, Montgomery Academy picked up wins with the No. 2 team of Alford-Brown beating Hornsby-Cornett 7-5, 6-4 and at No. 3 where Morano and Ron Sharma defeated Wilson-Speagle 6-3, 7-6 (7-2).
Trinity’s No. 1 doubles team of James Treadwell and Samuel Treadwell beat Davis and Hill 6-3, 6-3.
Montgomery Academy (6-1) will face Central-Phenix City in a 7A Section 2 match at home on Wednesday.
GIRLS TENNIS
Montgomery Academy 9, Trinity 0
The Eagles swept the Wildcats in singles and doubles competition on Tuesday, defeating Trinity 9-0 at Lagoon Park Tennis Center.
In singles, No. 1 Gabby Barrera defeated Margaret Roby 6-0, 6-1, No. 2 Jenna Chandler beat Kensley Williamson 6-1, 6-0, No. 3 Mae Mae Voltz defeated Kingley Johns 6-1, 6-1, No. 4 Kareena Singh beat Aniston Skipwok 6-1, 6-0, No. 5 Lola Campbell beat Sally Warren 6-3, 6-0 and No. 6 Marianna Lassner defeated Henlee Gunter 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles, No. 1 Barrera-Chandler shut out Johns-Skipwok 6-0, 6-0, No. 2 Voltz-Lassner defeated Roby-Williamson 6-1, 6-1 and No. 3 Campbell-Singh beat Warren and Reese Patterson 6-1, 5-7, 10-5.
Montgomery Academy’s Claire Moore and Lillian Cameron also won their exhibition doubles match.
Brewbaker Tech 9, Valley 0
The Rams swept the singles and doubles matches in a 4A-5A Section 3 match with Valley to win 9-0 on Monday at O’Connor Tennis Center.
In singles, No. 1 Ellen Smith defeated Treanna Bridges (8-0), No. 2 Lizzie Thomas beat Valley’s Kacie Eldridge (8-1), No. 3 Ashley Tiblier beat Camryn Davis (8-0), No. 4 Eva Phelps defeated Arianna Chambers (8-0), No. 5 Kassidy Barnes beat Lexi Chambers (8-1) and No. 6 Kenzie Moore beat McKinlee Garsee (8-3).
In doubles, the No. 1 team of Smith-Phelps beat Bridges-Chambers (8-0) No. 2 Thomas-Tiblier defeated Eldridge-Davis (8-0) and No. 3 Barnes-Berkeley Wright beat Garsee-Kenady Crim (8-2).
BOYS SOCCER
Trinity 10, Dale County 1
Jackson Champion scored four goals and Will Owen added three as the Wildcats buried Dale County 10-1 for its sixth consecutive win in a 4A Area 2 soccer game at Ragsdale-Boykin Field on Tuesday night.
Mac Davis had a pair of goals and Bo Stewart added one for the Wildcats. Champion had three assists, with Davis assisting on a pair of goals and Kip Brown assisting on one.
Trinity (6-4-1, 3-0 in area play) will play host to Houston Academy on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Catholic 8, BTW Magnet 1
Will Belsterling scored three goals and added an assist as the Knights defeated BTW Magnet in a 4A Area 3 matchup at Catholic on Tuesday night.
Ariyn Gilbert, Todd Bonnell, Joey Rodriguez, Garrett Sanford and Max Barranco each had one goal for the Knights. Matt Russo assisted on two of the goals, while Sanford, Bonnell and Henry Skala each added an assist.
Catholic will travel to Tuskegee on Friday to play Booker T. Washington in an area game.
Alabama Christian 4, Prattville Christian 3
Cade Segars led the Panthers with two goals and Cohen Palmore added a goal as the Panthers dropped their season opener at Alabama Christian Academy on Tuesday.
Jacob Hollon assisted on one of the goals.
PCA (0-1) will travel to play Stanhope Elmore on Thursday at 17 Springs.
GIRLS SOCCER
Trinity 10, Dale County 0
Cameron Stanley scored three goals to lead the Wildcats to a 10-0 win over Dale County in a 4A Area 2 match at Ragsdale-Boykin Field on Tuesday.
Hastings Avant and Ella Wiswall each added a pair of goals and an assist, while Rebi McLemore added two goals and Emily Teel had one.
Ella Hale assisted on one of the goals for the Wildcats.
Goalkeepers Mary Collin McDuffe and Rissie Price combined on the shutout as Trinity improved to 2-0 in area play.
The Wildcats play host to Houston Academy on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Prattville Christian 3, Alabama Christian 2
Avery Rogers found the back of the net with less than a minute remaining to break a 2-2 tie and lift the Panthers to a 3-2 win over Alabama Christian Academy on Tuesday.
Ella Pegg led the Lady Panthers with a goal and an assist, while Bella Carothers scored a goal.
PCA (1-0) will travel to Millbrook to play Stanhope Elmore on Thursday at 17 Springs.
