PREP ROUNDUP (Week 10): Jeff Davis breaks winless streak; Carver romps; Johnnie Carr Middle school champ

G.W. Carver 28, Greenville 7
The Wolverines were dominant on defense, holding the Tigers to just three plays for positive yards in the first half on the way to an easy victory.
Greenville was held to minus-39 yards of total offense in the first half while Carver built its big lead.
Marquaris Moore passed for a touchdown and ran for another to lead Carver to its seventh win of the season.
Moore ran for 45 yards for one touchdown and passed to Karl Ligon for 20 yards and a touchdown in the opening minutes of the second quarter.
Ligon opened the scoring with a 14-yard romp with nine minutes left in the first period. Carver got its final points of the night later in the second quarter on a Carl Hopkins run for 69 yards.
Greenville’s lone touchdown came via the defense on a 45-yard interception return by Christopher Robinson in the fourth quarter.
Moore finished with 67 yards passing and 76 yards rushing to lead the Carver defense. Ligon added 71 yards rushing in limited action.
The Wolverines (7-3, 5-2) finished third in Class 6A, Region 2 and will be on the road for the first round of the AHSAA playoffs against Helena next Friday.
Jeff Davis 30, Park Crossing 29
The Volunteers built a 17-point lead and then held on in the final minutes to earn their first win of the 2020 season Friday afternoon at Cramton Bowl.
Malcolm Simpson passed for two touchdowns, one each to Amarion Duster and L-Tarion White to lead the Volunteers, who avoided a winless season for the second time since 2012.
Donald Harris added a 3-yard run for a score and Juan Cordenas kicked a 30-yard field goal for the Vols.
Khurtiss Perry scored three times for the Thunderbirds on runs of 41,1 and 2 yards. Jaylen Anderson added a 13-yard run for a score.
Simpson led the Vols with 121 yards passing on 4-of-8 attempts. Amarion Duster had 85 yards in receptions on 11 catches.
Secedrick Crockett led the T’Birds with 103 yards on 11 carries.
JD (1-9) will miss the playoffs for the third consecutive year while Park Crossing (4-6) had made five-straight post seasons until this year.
Smiths Station 27, Stanhope Elmore 20
MILLBROOK – The Mustangs suffered from the turnover bug in a season-finale loss to the Panthers on Friday at Foshee-Henderson Field.
Stanhope Elmore had five turnovers including the final one on a drive that would have tied the score in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Two more turnovers led directly to Smiths touchdowns.
Antonio Trone led the Mustangs with 127 yards and a touchdown rushing and added a score on a reception. Quarterback Trey Killingsworth passed for 241 yards and two touchdowns while Jackson Thomas had 100 yards on four catches.
The Mustangs (5-5) will be on the road for the first round of the 6A playoffs, visiting Eufaula next Friday.
Elmore County 21, Jemison 20
ECLECTIC – The Panthers scored 14 points in the fourth quarter including the final toucodwn in the final seconds to earn their second win of the season on Friday.
Payton Stephenson’s 1-yard plunge with 13 seconds remaining in the game and Logan Pack’s extra point try gave ECHS a happy ending to an otherwise disappointing season.
Stephenson scored all three touchdowns for the Panthers with one coming on a reception of 23 yards from Sean Darnell in the first period. He added his second score on the first play of the fourth period on a 2-yard run. He finished with 109 yards and two scores on 16 carries. He also completed two passes for 29 yards and a catch for 23 yards.
The Panthers finish the season with a 2-8 record.
Tallassee 41, Bullock County 20
TALLASSEE – The Tigers finished the season in fine fashion in a non-counter win over Bullock County on Friday.
Jayln Daniels rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries to lead Tallassee.
JaQuavious Lackey had an interception for a touchdown while Marciano Smith and Zavion Carr each scored on runs of 18 and 14 yards, respectively, for Tallassee.
Brandon Perry had 90 yards and two scores on five carries to lead Bullock County (4-5).
Tallassee (3-7) earned the win for the week against Carroll, which forfeited the game due to COVID-19.
Reeltown 22, Holtville 0
HOLTVILLE – The Bulldogs managed just 132 yards of total offense in the loss to Reeltown in the regular season finale Friday.
Braxton Buck finished with 162 yards in total offense but Holtville was unable to reach the end zone in a game for the first time this season.
Cooper Mann led the Holtville defense with 11 tackles and a fumble recovery.
The Bulldogs (7-3) will open the Class 5A playoffs at home next week against UMS-Wright. Reeltown ends its season at 5-5, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2007.
City Middle School Championship
Johnnie Carr 14, Goodwyn 0
The Jaguars scored late in the first half and then added a fumble return for a score to earn the city of Montgomery Middle School championship at Cramton Bowl on Friday afternoon.
Bryson McGrew threw for one score and Tyler Carter had a 70-yard fumble return for the Jaguars.
