PREP UPDATE: Elmore County softball rallies to beat STJ; Trinity golf wins CCC Tourney

SOFTBALL

Elmore County 10, St. James 7

ECLECTIC -- St. James scored six runs in the third inning to take a four-run lead before the Panthers scored six runs in the fourth and another in the fifth on the way to a 10-7 win on Thursday.

Peyton Dees led the Trojan offense, going 2 for 2 with a double and a triple to drive in three runs. KK Hall went 2 for 4 and scored a run, Sydney Johnston went 1 for 3 and scored twice and Mary Olive Maddox went 1 for 4, scored a run and drove in a run. 

Ava Stanford went 3.2 innings for the Trojans and was charged with the loss, allowing seven hits and nine runs while walking four and striking out two. Emerson Hagen pitched the final 2.1 innings, surrendering two hits and a run while walking two and striking out one.

Ashtyn Pannell went 3 for 4 to lead the Panthers with a triple and a home run, scoring two runs and driving in three. Lalah Culpepper went 2 for 3 with a triple and drove in three runs and Hailey O’Brien went 2 for 2 with a double, scoring a run and driving in a run. 

Katie Capell picked up the win in the circle, allowing just three hits and a run while walking two and striking out one over the final 4.1 innings. 

Smiths Station 6, Pike Road 5

PIKE ROAD -- Kennedy Cuthbert hit her sixth home run of the year and Addison Belyeu went 2 for 4 with a double and a pair of RBIs, but the Patriots fell short in a 6-5 loss to Smiths Station on Thursday. 

Ansley Olesen started in the circle for the Patriots and pitched 1.1 innings, allowing four runs, two earned, while walking two. Haley Melton came on in relief for the final 5.2 innings, allowing two runs while walking one and striking out one. 

In addition to Cuthbert and Belyeu, Ameria Anderson, Mary Hayden Hargrove, Kailen Perdue and Kayla Bester all had singles for the Patriots, with Bester driving in a run.  

Aliya Wallace, Jenni Goins and Summer Crunk all had doubles for Smiths Station, with Goins and Wallace each driving in a pair of runs. Crunk pitched a complete game, striking out seven and walking four. 

 

Prattville Christian 7, Marbury 6

PRATTVILLE -- Saniyah Weaver went 2 for 3 and scored a pair of runs and Payson Hanson and Chloe Hollon each had a pair of RBIs as the Panthers edged Marbury 7-6 on Thursday. 

Laura Beth NeSmith got the win in the circle, with Holley Beth Rollan picking up a save.

PCA (6-6) will face Bob Jones on Friday at 3 p.m. 

 

Prattville Christian 3, Stanhope Elmore 0

MILLBROOK -- Avery Rogers scored a pair of goals and Bella Carothers added a third as the Panthers defeated Stanhope Elmore 3-0 on Thursday at 17 Springs. 

Emily Branch assisted on one of the goals.

Kendall Jordan recorded the shutout in goal as PCA improved to 2-0 on the season. 

 

BOYS SOCCER

Prattville Christian 7, LAMP 2

PRATTVILLE -- Cade Segars had three goals and assisted on another to lead the Panthers to their first victory of the season with a 7-2 win over LAMP at Panther Stadium on Friday night.

Cohen Palmore added two goals and a pair of assists, while Brady Roberson had a goal and an assist. Liam Taylor scored a goal and Stephen Bicknell had an assist. 

PCA (1-2) will travel to Montgomery to play St. James at Carlisle Field on Tuesday.

In junior varsity action, Caleb Myles, Ethan Wong and Landyn Guidry each scored a goal to lead the junior varsity Panthers to a 3-0 win over Chilton County. Ethan Green had a pair of assists and Josh Rybarczyk added another. Mason Steward and Landyn Guidry combined for the shutout in goal. PCA (2-1) will host Pike Road on Monday.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

Prattville Christian 4, LAMP 0

PRATTVILLE -- Avery Rogers and Riley Johnson each scored a pair of goals to help the Lady Panthers remain unbeaten with a 4-0 shutout of LAMP at Panther Stadium on Friday night.

Savannah Lamar assisted on one of the goals, while Kendall Jordan recorded the shutout in goal. 

PCA (3-0) will host Pike Road on Monday.

St. James 4, Pike Road 1

Katie Brightwell scored four goals to lead the Trojans to a 4-1 win over Pike Road at Carlisle Field on Thursday night.

Natalie Barton, Mary Grace Hixon and Addison Barber each provided an assist on the final three goals. St. James travels to Birmingham on Saturday to play John Carroll Catholic.

GOLF

Trinity wins Capital City Conference golf tournament 

Trinity shot a 153 over nine holes to win the annual Capital City Golf Tournament at Wynlakes on Thursday. 

The annual tournament, played among the five schools since the mid-1990s, was shortened from 18 holes to nine holes because of inclement weather. 

Alabama Christian finished second with a 159, followed by Montgomery Academy with a 161 and St. James at 193.

The low round of the day was carded by Trinity’s Whit Bixenman at 35 along with Alabama Christian’s Josh Kreitz at 35 as well. Trinity’s Jackson McIntyre and Montgomery Academy’s Breland Bernham were tied for third at 38, while Trinity’s Thomas Stewart and Alabama Christian’s Julie Waldo were a shot back at 39.
