RRS BRIEFS: Tide's Young brings home another award; Former Lee star Blackmon headed to Enterprise

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young was selected as the 2021 winner of the Manning Award, the Allstate Sugar Bowl and Manning family announced on Tuesday.
Young becomes the program’s second straight winner of the Manning, joining last year’s recipient Mac Jones. The pair are the only two Alabama quarterbacks to take home the Manning in the award’s 18-year history.
The sophomore led the Crimson Tide to a berth in the 2022 College Football Playoff Championship game where it lost to Georgia.
The Heisman winner was a consensus first-team All-American and All-SEC honoree as well SEC Offensive Player of the Year. Young set the Alabama single-season records for passing yards and passing touchdowns while leading the SEC and ranking second nationally in each category.
Young returns to Alabama for his junior season in 2022.
Men’s SEC Basketball tourney tickets are on sale
A limited number of all session ticket books to the Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament will go on sale Tuesday.
Tickets can be purchased at SECTicketOffice.com or Ticketmaster.com. All-session ticket books are available for $360 (300 level on the sides), $300 (300 level in the corners and behind the basket) and $250 (300 level high rows). These books will provide admission to all 13 games and seven sessions.
The SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament will take place March 9-13, at Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay, Fla.
Former Lee star Blackmon takes HC job at Enterprise
Ben Blackmon, who starred at Robert E. Lee High School, will be the new head coach at Enterprise High School, replacing Rick Darlington who was the coach for the Wildcats the last three years.
Blackmon leaves Spanish Fort after seven years, leading the program to one state title in 2015 and two more berths in the 6A championship in 2019 and 2020. His team reached the second round last season, losing to Opelika.
He also coached at Gulf Shores for four years and Greenville for four years.
Blackmon prepped at Lee High School, graduating in 1996. He played at Troy before going into coaching.
